Women of Aliyah

Women of Aliyah supports the social, spiritual, and educational needs of the women in our community. Women of Aliyah is part of the Pacific Southwest Branch of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. As an active arm of the Conservative/Masorti movement and the largest synagogue-based women’s organization worldwide, the Women’s League provides service to thousands of women and 400 women’s groups worldwide.

With hundreds of members, Women of Aliyah’s common goals include connection to Jewish women of all generations, commitment to our synagogue and to our children, and contribution to the greater Jewish community. You do not have to be a member of Temple Aliyah to be a member of Women of Aliyah.

Among the many activities sponsored by Women of Aliyah:

• Presenting frequent educational, holiday and fun social programs designed to enlighten, enrich, and create community.
• Hosting a book club that meets every other month.
• Selling snacks to the children of the religious school.
• Granting camperships (scholarships) to our youth to attend Jewish summer camps, USY (United Synagogue Youth) summer experiences, and Israel summer programs.
• Operating the Temple Aliyah Judaica Shop, a unique and beautiful boutique, offering a place to purchase gift items for any simcha or special occasion.
• Supporting organizations in our community that serve women, such as Haven Hills which provides shelter, safety and support for survivors of domestic abuse.
• Raising money for the Torah Fund, which supports the next generation of rabbis and cantors coming out of the five seminaries of the Conservative/Masorti movement: Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles, Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Israel, Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano in Argentina, and Zacharias Frankel College in Germany that aims to address the spiritual needs of a growing European Jewry.

Please join us and experience our enjoyable, welcoming, and rewarding community of Jewish women. Women of Aliyah activities usually occur on the 2nd or 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm either at Temple Aliyah or members' homes. Annual dues are $40 and include discounts on activities and 10% off in the gift shop.
