Sponsor Challahs

Sponsor Challahs for our community members who can't purchase or pick up challahs on their own. We hope to deliver to everyone on our request list on November 5th. Click here to sponsor challahs by October 25th.


 

Activities

All activity stations will be outdoors. All ages are invited to attend. Everyone 12 and older must be fully vaccinated. Masks must be worn at all times.

Pre-registration required to participate in all activities.

 

Blood Drive

We're joining forces with Cedars-Sinai and Shomrei Torah for our Mitzvah Day blood drive, November 7th, 8:30am - 2:30pm. You may leave your child to participate in an activity station while you give blood. Supervision is provided by adult and teen volunteers. If you plan on donating blood and you or your child plan on participating in the above activities, please pre-register on the mitzvah day registration form as well.


Bracelet Making for Save a Child's Heart

SAVE A CHILD'S HEART saves the lives of critically ill children suffering from heart disease in countries where access to pediatric heart care is limited or nonexistent. Through bringing children to Israel for medical care, performing missions abroad, and training medical personnel, they are bringing hope to families, communities, and countries.  


Card Decorating and Note Writing for Community of Caring

Temple Aliyah’s Community of Caring is committed to offering support and caring to our congregants and their loved ones. Our staff and volunteer teams reach out to those in the Aliyah family who are in need of support and to those celebrating happy occasions as well.

*If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to lead an activity or help at the blood drive or with the collections, please contact Erica or Lisa Cobey Lopez, C of C Director at Llopez@templealiyah.org 

Participate in any or all of these contact-less collections by delivering your items to the appropriate tables in the Temple Aliyah parking lot on Mitzvah Day.


Shoes for Shoes that Fit

Shoes that Fit provides shoes and socks to children in local schools who are unable to afford new shoes.  We are collecting new shoes and socks for students at Parthenia Elementary.

To participate, you must contact Sheri Elbaum, who will assign you a specific child. Click here for detailed instructions.

 


Candy Collection for Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude has delivered over 3 Million Care Packages filled with items donated by grateful Americans and service-friendly companies that want to express their support for Heroes serving overseas and here at home.

Bins will be out in the courtyard daily starting Nov. 1 and in the parking lot on Nov. 7


Thanksgiving Meal Bags for LA Family Housing

LA Family Housing helps people transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.

You are welcome to bring a completed bag or some of the items. Gift cards for Turkey purchases are optional and please hand directly to Erica Varnen. 


Sandwich Bags for Homeless Shelters

Please do this mitzvah at home and bring sandwich bags to the designated table in the parking lot on 11/7, or deliver to Shomrei Torah on 11/9 between 10:30-11:30am:

1.  Put on gloves and a mask.

2.  Decorate and write a note on the outside of the paper lunch bag (optional).

3.  Make PBJ sandwiches (alternate butter is fine if you have a nut allergy) and put in silver foil, saran wrap or ziplock bag.

4.   Pack the sandwich with a napkin, fruit, water and snack like chips.


Gently Loved Luggage for Bags of Hope

Bags of Hope and Savinar Luggage have teamed up to help support the children and youth serviced by the LA County of Department of Children and Family Services. The luggage will be donated to children/youth living in foster care.  


Books, clothes, blankets, toiletries and shoes for JFS

Jewish Family Service is a comprehensive network of services that welcomes individuals and families of all ages and identities to our full spectrum of care.  

We're collecting: toiletries (sample and full size), gently used books, clothes (especially sweaters and jackets), blankets, and shoes.
