Rabbi Golkow

Rabbi Shayna Golkow joined the Temple Aliyah community in July of 2019. She was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City earlier that year where she also earned a Masters degree in Jewish Education and a Certificate in Pastoral Care and Counseling. As part of her pastoral work, Rabbi Golkow wrote an end-of-life ritual, a “Loved Ones’ Vidui,” to help families and friends grieve and reconcile with a loss.

Before coming to Aliyah, Rabbi Golkow was the rabbinic intern at Park Avenue Synagogue in Manhattan for two years. Previously, she served as the rabbinic intern at Temple Beth Tzedek in Buffalo, NY, standing in for the rabbi while he was away on sabbatical. Some of her other roles have included hospice chaplain, scholar-in-residence at Camp Ramah in the Poconos, and High Holiday service leader at Johns Hopkins University Hillel. Rabbi Golkow graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude, with a major in Religious Studies and a minor in Psychology. Originally from Cherry Hill, NJ, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and hosting Shabbat dinners. Rabbi Golkow is passionate about deepening meaningful Jewish living and learning, and she is thrilled to be part of the Temple Aliyah family.
