Religious School

Overview

Two days a week! Fun! Engaging!!

Temple Aliyah’s award-winning religious school is dedicated to providing our children with a quality Jewish education in a loving and interactive learning environment. Our program stresses parent participation and education, holiday enrichment activities, community projects, speakers and field trips to help strengthen the connection between our children and the Synagogue, their homes and the Jewish community. Curriculum is age-appropriate and stresses the development of Hebrew skills, Judaic knowledge and commitment to the Jewish people and Israel through exploration of Jewish rituals and spiritual growth.

Religious school is held two days a week plus Family Sunday Programs (4/year). Many additional educational opportunities are available for our older students via weekend retreats and special activities and discussions with their teachers and rabbis. They are also encouraged to socialize with their peers in a safe, non-judgmental environment under trained adult supervision.

Gan

Religious school begins in Gan, the kindergarten class. This is an introduction to Judaism, to become familiar with Shabbat, the Holidays, and the Hebrew language through dance, art, song and games.

Aleph

Aleph is our first grade class where students learn age-appropriate concepts about Shabbat, holidays, Israel, and the Jewish family.

Bet

In Bet, our second graders continue to learn about age-appropriate Jewish concepts and are introduced to the Hebrew language and the Synagogue service.

Gimel, Dalet, Hei, Vav

Gimel, Dalet, Hei, Vav are the equivalent of 3rd to 6th grades and offer a continuation and reinforcement of Hebrew. Children begin to explore other subjects such as Torah, Prophets and Writings, ethics, morals, Jewish life cycle events and Israel.

TCN@Aliyah

An innovative program that brings together our Education and Youth Departments!
Middle and high school students are at a critical point in their development, as they begin to search for answers to life's significant questions on their path to adulthood. As they seek their personal independence, their Jewish foundation becomes crucial in helping them to make clear, healthy, strong decisions for themselves as they find ways to integrate Jewish living into their lives. At Temple Aliyah we believe it is essential for them to have their Jewish identity firmly in tact as they begin to think about college and beyond. TCN@Aliyah addresses the specific needs of our teens and provides a safe setting in which they can explore and discover who they are as young Jewish adults.

TCN@Aliyah Schedule:
6pm Early Dinner (pre-registration required)
6:30 Midrasha Seminar (engaging classes for our 7-10th grade students)
6:30 USY Leadership Program
7:15pm Informal Education Program (USY and Midrasha Participants)
8:00 USY Lounge

Solomon's Tent

Jewish tradition teaches that every Jewish child deserves a Jewish education. Our Soloman's tent program, which is a part of OurSpace, serves children who learn in special ways. We are proud that all of OurSpace programs serve the entire community. Children in our OurSpace programs blossom and gain enormous self-confidence through an abundance of love and teachers specially trained in special education.
